Red Robin Dyslexia Tuition

Judith is a qualified dyslexia specialist with over 28 years teaching experience. She is a professional member of the British Dyslexia Association with Accredited Teacher Status.

Tuition

Judith offers online specialist dyslexia tuition to children with or without a dyslexia diagnosis.

She teaches children who would benefit from additional support in reading and /or spelling.

Teaching online enables your child to learn in the comfort and security of their own home,  thereby reducing the anxiety of having an additional out of school lesson/s and making the most of 'home time' rather than toing and froing to lessons.

Reading and Spelling Tuition

A structured, multisensory approach with plenty of reinforcement and consolidation.

Many of Judith's learners will have short term memory difficulties, processing difficulties, difficulty in recalling or understanding what they have read.  Many learners will read and/or spell words correctly one day and incorrectly the next or do so in the same sentence or paragraph.  They may lose their place easily when reading and miss lines out.

Judith will help your child to develop firm foundations in both reading and spelling and work with you to help and guide you along your child's learning journey too.

Establishing a starting point & filling in the gaps

No two learners will be the same.  Judith carries out an informal placement assessment during the first lesson to identify a starting point for both reading and spelling.  A reward system is put in place for each learner to act as an incentive and encourage each pupil to work towards  achieving badges, medals and trophies.

Length and frequency of lessons

Most lessons take place after school between 3.45 to 6pm.

Lessons vary in length according to the needs, age and stage of each pupil. Generally a full length lesson is 45/50 minutes.  Shorter lessons of 30 minutes are available for those unable to manage a longer lesson or who only need tuition in reading or spelling.  A longer lesson is generally needed when both reading and spelling tuition is needed.

Frequency: one or two lessons per week during term-time.  Some pupils continue their lessons during the school holidays.

Tuition fees:

45/50 minute lessons £35

30 minute lessons £25

Feedback and homework emails are given free of charge.  Resources can be dropped off, if local, or posted if further afield.

Teaching online means distance is no barrier.  Judith has pupils in a number of different counties throughout the UK.
